art-battle-lg

Art Battle is a live competitive painting event. 12 painters will create the best work they can within 20 minutes. As they work, the audience moves around the easels, allowing them an up-close view of the creative process. The medium used is acrylic paint and the tools allowed are brushes, palette knives or any other non-mechanical implements. At the end of the round, the audience votes for their favourite painting and can later place bids in a silent auction to take a painting home.

Mixing Photography, Digital and Traditional art !

Today I want to share with you  something that I found a very interesting mix, why because she had done something great, mixing my three passions and creating unique pieces of Art., she is Claudia Salguero. I have the pleasure to meet her and see her wonderful job!

She was born in Colombia and a graduate of Arts from the University of Bogota, Claudia came to Canada in 2001.

After years working as visual artist and professional photographer, Claudia became fascinated by the boundless possibilities of digital art and in 2006 she decided to complement her natural palette with the digital brushes of Corel’s Painter Digital Art Studio. Later in that year she would win 1st Place Fine Arts Category in the internationally recognized Black and White Spider Awards, the leading international award honoring black and white photography, in London, England.

Her mastery in Painter earned her a place in Corel’s elite group of 35 Painter Masters from around the world. She is one of only three Painter Masters in Canada the sole member from Latin America.

Claudia has presented various solo exhibitions in Ottawa and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Canada and abroad. Her works can be found in private and corporate collections.

She has been featured in publications in USA, Canada, Spain, England and Colombia as well as in Ottawa-based television shows like Regional Contact and Ottawa Living. Claudia teaches digital art workshops in her studio and regularly makes presentations about her art at professional conferences and artist associations in Canada and Latin America. At her studio she also gives self-expression workshops exploring different materials and techniques with kids and adults.

A multi-talented artist, backed by her own band Claudia is also a Latin Jazz singer. Footage of her shows can be found in YouTube under ‘Claudia Salguero’.

“If you don’t know what color to take, take black.” – Pablo Picasso

The big “Maestro”Pablo Picasso.

Pablo Ruiz Picasso (b. 1881, d. 1973) is probably the most important figure in 20th Century art. Time magazine art critic Robert Hughes once said that “To say that Pablo Picasso dominated Western art in the 20th century is, by now, the merest commonplace. Before his 50th birthday, the little Spaniard from Malaga had become the very prototype of the modern artist as public figure. No painter before him had had a mass audience in his own lifetime.”

He was born October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain and by the time he died in France in April of 1973, had created a staggering 22.000 works of art in a variety of mediums, including sculpture, ceramics, mosaics, stage design and graphic arts. As critic Hughes notes, “There was scarcely a 20th century movement that he didn’t inspire, contribute to or–in the case ofCubism, which, in one of art history’s great collaborations, he co-invented with Georges Braque–beget.” Quite simply, as well as being a force of culture, Picasso was also a force of nature.

Do you know what is Boterismo?

“When you start painting, it is somewhat outside you.  At the conclusion, you seem to move inside the painting.” -Fernando Botero-

Fernando Botero was born in Colombia in 1932,  He is a  figurative artist and sculptor,  His signature style, also known as “Boterismo”, depicts people and figures in large, exaggerated volume, which can represent political criticism or humor, depending on the piece.

He is considered the most recognized and quoted living artist fromLatin America, and his art can be found in highly visible places around the world, such as Park Avenue in New York City and the Champs Elysées in Paris. ( from Wikipedia)

The beauty is every where, you just have to look  with different eyes.

Britto, great artist, he mix elements of cubism, pop art and graffiti painting in his work!

Romero Britto was born in Recife, Brazil in 1963. Self-taught at an early age, he painted on surfaces such as newspapers. In 1983, he traveled to Paris where he was introduced to the work of Matisse and Picasso. He combined influences from cubism with pop, to create a vibrant, iconic style that The New York Times describes, “exudes warmth, optimism and love.”

Britto considers the role of an artist to be an agent of positive change. He serves as a benefactor, donating time, art and resources to over 250 charitable organizations and several boards such as Best Buddies International, and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. He was recently named a founding inaugural benefactor of Harvard’s “International Negotiation Program,” by Dr. Daniel Shapiro, in his quest for peaceful conflict resolution. Britto has also spoken at the World Economic Forum in Davos, and at countless schools and institutions. In early 2011 the President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, invited Britto to create the logo for Rede Cegonha, a project to reach over 61 million pre and post-natal mothers and babies. – from http://www.britto.com/
